Shoes
Shoes a privilege reserved to men kind.
Anthropologist Erik Trinkaus believes that humans began using footwear between 40,000 and 26,000 years ago. His conclusion is based on the fact that the thickness of the toe bones decreased during this period. Probably due to the protection of the shoe the toes had less stress and work to do and they became smaller and weaker.
The earliest known shoe was found in California and it’s about 9000 years old. The materials used for making shoes don’t last thousands of years, this is a rare exception, and Erik could be right.
Even if we don’t know for sure how old the use of them is, we do know though that men an women have always loved them and used them to protect their feet, to express elegance and sex appeal, and wrote many stories about them. The size of them is related to beauty like in Cinderella, a woman with small feet is beautiful and sexy. The opposite is sometimes believed about men, big is more masculine and stronger, but there is a fact in History that contradicts this and I don’t think many people know about it. Julius Caesar one of the greatest Generals of all time used to choose soldiers with small feet because he said that they were faster and more agile than the others, and better for wining battles. If you think about the ballet dancers that the smaller they are the better, this makes sense, but what about the ladies do you think they will agree with Caesar?
Probably not, quality is more important than quantity, but good quality in abundance is not bad either.
There are many kinds of footwear from the simple to the very specialized for work or sports. Boots are my favored probably because they are in some way related to freedom and adventure, they were more popular in the past because they were very good for walking and also for horse riding but they are still quite popular today, specially the American cowboy boots.
I love going to a shoe store, the smell of new shoes and the many varieties, from the elegant to the sneakers and athletic like Nike, Asics.
There is Art and Science behind them, History, Civilization and also psychology. According to some studies, people when meeting strangers, one of the first things they notice is the shoes they are wearing, so look after them and don’t forget to polish them before going out, after all they are part of your clothing and yourself, so to speak, people don’t see your feet they see what’s on top of them, in a way is like a form of make up, and if you want to impress the ladies you might want to by a bigger size, but don’t forget that you won’t fool Caesar, he read the History books and was very good at the Art of War.
Hope you find good information here, that will help you find the right ones for you, and I also hope that I made you smile.
